"Jackson Memorial Jaguars Girls Basketball Advance To SECT Finals Over Hightstown 61-44"
Hightstown hosted Jackson Memorial in a big game. The winner in this matchup advances to the Sect finals on Monday. Both teams have been playing great basketball this season with momentum and confidence. One advantage Hightstown has is size, length that can protect the basket. Can the Jaguars spoil Hightstown home court or does Hightstown have other plans.
Jackson Memorial started off the game strong with good defense, flow to the offense, ball movement and getting key baskets early. Hightstown had trouble early against their defense by only scoring 9 points and giving up 13 in the first quarter. The Jaguars dig a great job of setting the tone of this game being on the road and getting momentum quick.
Both offenses started to score back and fourth in the second quarter as Hightstown got better looks at the basket against Jaguars defense. Jackson Memorial struggled with the defense in this quarter giving up 17 points and scoring 15 points. A lot of fouls were being called with questionable calls also which was a huge factor in the game. Hightstown cut the deficit to two points heading into halftime as Jackson Memorial had a 28-26 lead.
Jackson Memorial took over the second half against Hightstown by outscoring them 33-18 in the third and fourth quarters. Their defense was outstanding, kept key shots against Hightstown and got the momentum back. It was tough for Hightstown to get anything going on the offensive side of the ball and the defense was out of sync in the two quarters. Second chance points was also huge in this game between these two teams.
Jaguars advance to the Sect finals this Monday February 27th with a 61-44 win against Hightstown behind big contributions from Zoie Maffei, Chloe Messer and Kamile Makselyte.
