"Manasquan Girls Basketball Dominated South River Rams 52-23 With Outstanding Defense"

Manasquan and South River faced against each other in the NJSIAA Tournament, Quarterfinal Round, Central Jersey, Group 2. Manasquan was trying to continue their great season at 21-6 while South River is having a up and down season at 15-13. Can Manasquan hold off the upset or does South River have other plans for them. Manasquan has more size and length in this matchup.


South River was struggling right from the start in first quarter having a hard time finding shots, not playing defense, giving up turnovers to Manasquan which they took advantage of and no flow at all. They were not focused at all on defense and offense which got them in a big deficit early. Manasquan pitched a shutout in the first quarter leading 12-0 heading into the second quarter.


Manasquan continued their dominant ways in the second quarter playing defense, forcing turnovers, spreading the floor, finding open teammates and getting to the free throw line. They didn't give up a basket until halfway thru the second. South River ended up only scoring 6 points in this quarter while giving up 20 points. It was 32-6 heading into halftime with South River trying to make halftime adjustments.


South River did change up a few things in the second half but still wasn't enough with Manasquan's big lead. They did shoot the ball better, played much better defense a little and got to the free throw line also. Manasquan's defense was still outstanding to finish the game as they won 52-23 and advancing.
