Red Bank Catholic hosted Donovan Catholic at home in the NJSIAA Tournament, First Round, South Jersey, Non-Public A In a big matchup. Donovan was struggling this season coming into the game at 7-18, while Red Bank was having a strong season at 25-2. Can Donovan Catholic pull off an upset or does Red Bank Catholic continue their dominant season.
Donovan Catholic was struggling right from the beginning with giving up turnovers early, not getting open shots, playing horrible defense and the flow wasn't there. Red Bank Catholic took advantage of that in the first quarter and never looked back. Their defense was excellent the whole game, more focused then Donovan and they had everything going. Heading Into the second quarter it was 24-8 Red Bank Catholic with all the momentum.
Red Bank Catholic continued their dominant start in the second quarter also with great ball movement, hitting the three pointers, forcing tough shots and turnovers against Donovan Catholic. They also were able to get a lot of offensive rebounds throughout the game which was a big difference. At halftime it was a 45-14 lead as Donovan Catholic was trying to figure out how can they chip into the deficit.
The second half for Red Bank Catholic was the same theme in the first half just playing their own game. They outscored Donovan Catholic 41-21 in the second half scoring 27, giving up 12 in the third, 14 and 9 in fourth. Head Coach for Red Bank Catholic put in everyone in this game, kept mixing and marching. Donovan Catholic had no answers the whole game as Red Bank Catholic wins 86-35 with total dominance at home.
