Somerset Patriots was looking to continue the momentum in this series against Reading Fightin Phils being 10 games over 500 but came up short losing 6-5 with it being a crazy back and fourth game. It was fire works night also at TD Bank Ballpark as a decent crowd were in attendance. A lot of people thought it might rain the whole time but luckily it turned out to be nice during the game and stopped raining. Gray Fenter pitched for Somerset yesterday and Josh Hendrickson went for Reading Fightin Phils. Both teams combined for 11 runs and 16 hits as they played clean defense.
Gray Fenter went 3.0 innings, 2 hits, 2 runs, 2 er, 1 walk, 1 strikeout, 1 home run and 85 pitches as his command was a little off. Justin Maese came in going 2.0 innings, 4 hits, 3 runs, 3 er, 0 walks, 2 strikeouts and Maese was struggling locating his pitches also. Next it was Steven Jennings who got the loss (2-2) went 2.2 innings, 3 hits, 1 run, 1 er, 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Then Alex Mauricio pitched 1.1 innings, 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 er, 0 walks and 1 strikeout.
Somerset Patriots was not the issue yesterday as they hit three home runs and did great with runners in scoring position. Austin Wells (7), Brandon Lockridge (2) and T.J. Rumfield (6) all hit home runs for them yesterday. Everson Pereira also got an rbi in the game with a sac fly. Somerset worked the count and was able to get some walks against Reading Fightin Phils offense but wasn't enough to win this game.
Look for them to bounce back today with Blane Abeyta on the mound for Somerset starting at 1:05.
