"Somerset Patriots Start Off The Double A Subway Series Strong At Home With A 7-4 Win"
Somerset Patriots were back home after a great road trip hosting the double a Subway Series against Binghamton Rumble Ponies live from TD Bank Ballpark. The big storyline was Austin Wells return for Somerset as he is back and looked great during bp before yesterdays game. Blane Abeyta was on the mound for the Patriots and they faced Luis Moreno from Rumble Ponies. The fans were ready to Austin Wells back and it was a good turnout. Can Somerset Patriots continue the momentum from the road trip.
Blane Abeyta didn't really have the command yesterday only going 1.2 innings, 2 hits, 3 runs, 3 er, 2 walks, 2 strikeouts and 2 home runs. Abeyta couldn't locate his pitches. The Rumble Ponies hitters were able to find their pitches they wanted and took advantage of it. But the bullpen for Somerset did a fantastic job of backing Abeyta up and only gave up one run after that. Blas Castano came in first who got the win (2-0) going 5.1 innings, 2 hits, 1 run, 0 er, 3 walks, 5 strikeouts and a 1.17 era. Next it was Steven Jennings who got the hold (2) 1.0 innings, 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 er, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts and 2.53 era. Lastly Indigo Diaz came in to close it out (2) 1.0 innings, 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 er, 0 walks, 1 strikeout and a 0.93 era.
The offense for Somerset Patriots did a fantastic job against Binghamton Rumble Ponies pitching, working the count, getting walks, putting the bat on ball, taking advantage of the mistake pitches and runners in scoring position. Trey Sweeney went 2-3 with a walk, Jasson Dominguez had a walk, Austin Wells 1-3, 2 rbis, 1 walk, Everson Pereira 2-4, 1 rbi, Jeisson Rosario with two walks, T.J. Rumfield hit his third home run of the season for Somerset, Anthony Seigler 1 rbi and 1 walk. Their offense was balanced with a lot of contributions.
Before the game Play by Play broadcaster, media relations and content creator Steven Cusumano from Somerset did an interview with Austin Wells talking about his return, winning the championship last year, being at big league camp during spring training and Anthony Volpe. This was awesome and video credit from Vice president/media relations Marc Russinoff.
Somerset Patriots improve to 13-8 on the season.
