"St. John Vianney Girls Basketball Dominated St. Rose 83-40 Behind Zoe Brooks 26 Points"

Toms River North Highschool also hosted the girls shore conference tournament, semifinal round with the first matchup between St. John Vianney and St. Rose. Winner advances to the championship game Sunday February 19th at Monmouth University. Both teams were having a strong season coming into this game. Can St. John Vianney continue their undefeated season.


Coach Dawn Karpell does an excellent job keeping St. John Vianney focused, locked in and ready for each game. This game was no different as they started off strong in the first quarter against St. Rose. St. John Vianney did a great job establishing the tone early with spreading the floor on offense, putting pressure on St. Rose offense with the tough defense and getting their shots up at a high rate. Heading Into the second quarter, St. John Vianney was up 18-14 with confidence.


Zoe Brooks who is a top player for St. John Vianney had a ankle injury coming into the game and ended up re injuring it. She had to come out of the game and get treatment from the staff. Brooks was on the sideline for a decent amount of time but her teammates stepped up. She came back in the game eventually and took off after that having a fantastic night.


St. John Vianney dominated the second quarter putting on a show scoring 28 points and only giving up 3 points. St. Rose had trouble from the second quarter to the end of game. St. John Vianney's defense was all over the place, not giving up easy shots and protecting the basket. Their offense was moving the ball, had flow and getting to the free throw line. At halftime they were leading 46-17 with all the momentum.


St. Rose continued their struggles in the second half as St. John Vianney kept on padding the lead. They played complete basketball the whole night and showing why this team is 27-0. The final score was 83-40 with total dominance and advancing to the championship game Sunday February 19th at Monmouth University.


Top scorers for St. John Vianney Zoe Brooks 26 Points, Janie Bachmann 14 points, 14 rebounds and Madison Kocis 12 points.


Top scorers for St. Rose Cassidy Kruesi 10 points and Rosie Scognamigilo 12 points.
